One of the things I love most about Body Harmony is that it has never asked me to fit into a predefined system. Instead, it shows me that I am the system — that everything I need for balance, joy, and transformation is already within me.
This realisation has been life-changing. Rather than searching externally for structure or validation, I have learned to trust my own body’s wisdom, to listen deeply, and to allow my natural intelligence to guide me.
But Body Harmony didn’t just change my relationship with myself — it transformed my connections with others. The friendships I have made along this journey continue to bless me in ways I never expected.
When I first began studying Body Harmony in the mid-1980s, I had no idea I would find a community of people who truly understood me. These connections have grown over decades, forming a network of support, inspiration, and shared exploration.
Another unexpected gift has been the shift in how I respond to stress. Before Body Harmony, I — like so many — felt the instinct to react, to find immediate solutions, to push through discomfort. Now, my first instinct is to breathe.
I take a deep inhale, feeling my exhale slowly descend, allowing myself to center before needing to act. This simple yet profound practice has changed how I navigate challenges, helping me remain grounded even in the face of uncertainty.
Body Harmony also fosters natural collaboration — relationships that form through shared experiences and mutual passion. For some years now, I have been working alongside Duncan Hogg and Barbara Van Stek, creating immersive Body Harmony retreats in the summers of Europe.
And for 2025, we have the perfect venue for our two-week residential training: a space that not only meets our logistical needs but also resonates with the essence of what we do, a place that allows for deep relaxation.
Why not join us near Carcassone in the south of France between 30 May and 16 June for what promises to be a truly unique immersive bodywork experience?
Health in Perspective’s Duncan Hogg and Gina Carruthers are both highly accomplished practitioners and teachers, with nearly 40 years’ Body Harmony experience. They also share a deep understanding of other complementary holistic modalities, offering a range of treatments from their Alaya Verde wellness centre in the Noosa Hinterland, Queensland.
